YOGA DHARMA ASHRAM
The Yoga Dharma Ashram is in the tranquil hills and mountains surrounding Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria. We’ve been here for over 20 years running yoga teacher training courses and yoga retreats.
OPEN MINDS
The world appears to be going through a time of change, and things that only recently seemed normal, we are now being told is abnormal. We have a space that is set back from the world which allows us to discuss these topics freely and clearly
VEGETARIAN & VEGAN
We are vegetarian so this will appeal to people of a similar disposition. We are also alcohol and drug free, and again this will appeal to people of a similar disposition.
A PLACE FOR CHANGE
As well as running courses and retreats we have a space to talk openly on topics such as yoga and philosophy, the current world position, self-healing, foraging, self-reliance and personal responsibility.
YAMA & NIYAMA
Our background in yoga provides us with the ethical guidelines of the Yamas and Niyamas to guide us. We realise other disciplines will have their own ethical and moral guidelines. This is fine, so long as we are acting from a peaceful and non-harmful view point.
THE ASHRAM
The Ashram is set up as a residential yoga centre, with en-suite rooms, a yoga studio, a small pool and yoga equipment. There are large grounds with an orchard and lots of trees.
We are deep within the Bulgarian countryside in a small hamlet overlooking the Balkan mountains. The centre is secluded and south facing on the side of a mountain with amazing views in all directions

SKILLS
We have limited spaces for like minded people to bring their skills and life experiences in exchange for a stay at the centre. Depending on circumstances your stay may be free with yoga included. It may be we will ask for a donation in exchange for your stay.
VISION
We are looking for help with some of the bigger projects we are currently working on such as clearing land to plant wood burning trees, erect fencing, create natural springs from underground waterways, creating vegetable growing areas, and laying paths.
We may be able to offer a stay in exchange for the right people.

ACCOMODATION AND THE CENTRE
All rooms have private bathrooms. There is a communal area in the cellar with projector and lots of movies. The garden is large and secluded with a big orchard and a small pool. There’s loads of garden space to relax and study in the south facing grounds. We have all the equipment you’ll need for your stay including towels, yoga mats, study equipment, library of study books, pens and paper if you need them.
TRAVEL
Flights and transfers are not included. We can arrange transport or help with transfers if needed. We can usually arrange cheap transfers from most airports depending on availability. We are around 3 hours from Sofia with a regular coach service to Veliko Tarnovo which is close by.
THE VENUE
Yoga Dharma BG has been established for 20 years and during that time we have continuously offered yoga retreats and yoga training courses.
The centre is ideally located in a peaceful hamlet, but also within easy reach of cafes and restaurants. We are in an established area for tourism and our guests are always literally blown away with the venue and the location.
PLACES TO VISIT WHILE IN BULGARIA
Bulgaria is a beautiful country and is largely rural. There are international airports at Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas and Varna. These towns have history and beaches and amazingly cheap restaurants and hotels. There are direct travel links to Veliko Tarnovo where we can arrange a short transfer to the centre.
THINGS TO DO & STOPOVERS
We are in the heart of the Bulgarian countryside with amazing scenery and stunning waterfalls. A visit to the the old quarter of Veliko Tarnovo is a must with the artisan gift shops and local artists.
VARNA & BURGAS
Varna and Burgas on the Black Sea are both great stopovers. The Black Sea coast goes from Turkey to Romania with history and sunny beaches.
SOFIA & PLOVDIV
Sofia is full of Roman Ottoman history with basilicas and tombs. The night life and restaurants are cheap and accessible.
Plovdiv is cosmopolitan city and easily accessible. A stopover in the old centre is a must with a trip to the Roman amphitheater and the street restaurants
