You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself fully in your practise and studies. Our tranquil location makes it the perfect place for you to focus fully, and this has its own unique benefits.
This will be an intense course, covering the minimum contact hours’ necessary to comply with the Yoga Alliance 200-hour training course. You will be offered additional modules at our Southend centre, at a nominal rate, if you feel you need extra time.
Your day will begin with an in-depth exploration of kriyas, beginning with a detailed explanation of the reasons why we practise kriyas, and the considerable benefits. Your kriya practice will include Kapalabhati, Bhastrika, Agnis akriya and Kungal Kriya.
You will receive individual adjustments and modifications to take your asana practise forward. This may include modifications to strengthen core and upper body, open tight hips or release the back and shoulders. During the course, you will learn the art of vinyasa krama, which is the intelligent sequencing of postures to achieve a positive outcome. During these group workshops, you will not only gain knowledge of teaching individually within a group situation, but it will shed light on your own practise.
Our study of yoga philosophy will include an in-depth exploration of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, The Bhagavad Gita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. We get the opportunity to put into practise the teachings of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika throught out our 15 days. We will discuss the historical and social reasons why the teachings of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Yoga Sutras were made available to mankind. We consider the Baghavad Gita, and discuss how it compares in its philosophical outlook to the Yoga Sutras.
We learn to adjust and teach postures from the Ashtanga primary series up to Navasana. During these workshop settings, we look at each of the postures in turn, practising and learning adjustments and modifications. During these workshops the subtle and gross anatomy will play a major role and we build an understanding of the science of asanas, both Western and Eastern.
Learning how to teach and express yourself as a yoga teacher plays a pivotal role of the course, but you will of course need students to teach. Learning how to market yourself as a yoga teacher will be crucial to your success. You will discover what makes you unique as a yoga teacher. We will learn how to attract students to our class through a variety of platforms, including social media, websites, newsletters and planning posters that work! and Public relations.
